In SW London, where I live, there are acres of terraced houses from the Victorian, Edwardian and other periods, most of which have been improved with loft conversions, side-return extensions and basement upgrades.

It's the same all over London, but often there's been less attention paid to the outside – not the façade but the front garden.

This could be because of the difficulty of sourcing the variety of skills and products required for a sympathetic restoration – metalwork for gates and railings, tessellated tiling for paths and steps, general building for walls and paths, plant choice and planting.
